The Cay House story is one of love and labor. In the late 1960's early 1970's, Emmanuel, a young man fixed on marrying his bride set out to build a home of his own. With the help of dear friends, who were often also family, he labored to build a home for his family. By the Cay's standards, it was a big house boasting four bedrooms. Two large alternating generators, owned by Emmanuel's father, whose home and businesses were located just next door on adjacent properties, powered the home. During those days, there was no central power on the Cay, and the few families who were able to afford generators were considered fortunate. Through the years with family and friends, many wonderful memories were made in this home.
At the young age of forty-eight Emmanuel passed away, leaving behind a big void. Years later, with a mother's encouragement, the renovations of what is today The Cay House began. The renovations were indeed a continuation of the labor and love story. Through the love of a father, the owner embarked on a passionate and personal project to transform the house, one that would be welcoming and shared with guests from around the world. Continuing her father's legacy of warmly welcoming and entertaining others.
